Anneloes Smitsmanis the founder & CEO of EARTHwise Centreand has been leading the EfS Programme since 2013. She is a published researcher, coach, storyteller, trainer and system developer for transformational change and whole system learning & innovation, with close to 20 years of experience. She provides training to the EfS schools in systems thinking, mindfulness, practices of care, ecological literacy, pedagogy for transformational learning, sustainable development and climate change.
Gilberte CHUNG KIM CHUNG is the Director of the Bureau de l’Education Catholique. She has been a teacher, deputy principal and school principal in four Loreto secondary schools as well as a Project Manager/Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Education in the field of Special Education Needs. Since 2007, as the director of BEC, she leads a network of 46 primary schools, 18 secondary schools and one technical school.
Annick Rayapen is a member of the administrative staff of the Bureau de l’Education Catholique (BEC). She is the Secretary of the BEC Director, and is responsible for the coordination with the colleges. Since 2011, Annick supports in the communication with the schools and takes care of the administrative aspects for the trainings of the members of staff of the schools involved in the EFS Programme from BEC.

Zaahirah Koheallee Hosenbocus is Head of Department of Chemistry at Loreto College Curepipe (LCC) Mauritius. She has been in charge of the LCC Go Green Club, formerly called the Environment Club, since 2008. Zaahirah is the EFS Mentor for LCC since 2011. She has done tremendous work to implement the EFS Charter in the LCC educational system and facilitate the change of behaviours of students and teachers to reduce the ecological footprint of LCC.
Lucie Leve Hang
Deputy Rector LCC
Lucie Leve Hang is the Deputy Rector of Loreto College Curepipe (LCC) Mauritius. For the last 30 years, she has dedicated herself in providing quality education based on a human-centered approach infused by Christian values. She is acting as a facilitator for the implementation of the Differential Teaching and Learning project in the Loreto Colleges. Lucie is also an EFS Mentor for LCC, providing the critical leadership support for the EFS programme at school level.

Anamantoo Boni Bangari is an Educator at St. Mary’s College (SMC) Rose-Hill, Mauritius. He teaches Design & Communication and Technology, Human Values, and Mathematics. Boni has been an EFS mentor for SMC since 2011. He has played a key role in teaching and demonstrating the EFS principles and values at classroom level and with his colleagues. Boni supports his students to develop their intrinsic values and potential through the teachings of interconnectedness.

Stéphanie Deruisseau is Head of Department of Travel and Tourism at St. Mary’s College (SMC) Rose-Hill, Mauritius. Stéphanie has been an EFS mentor for SMC since 2011. Her valuable contributions to “green” activities organised at school level demonstrate her belief in an education that is oriented towards sustainability. She lives her commitment to EFS by continuously incorporating the EFS principles and practices in her teaching of Travel and Tourism.

Shakeel Moossajee is an Educator at St. Mary’s College (SMC) Rose-Hill, Mauritius, where he teaches Physics since 2008. Shakeel has been an EFS mentor for SMC since 2011. He has been responsible for the environment protection club for activity classes for form 3 in 2013. He is working hard at bringing a change in the mindset of his students through science projects on sustainability issues.
Samantha Bacha Gian

Samantha Bacha Gian is an Educator at St. Mary’s College (SMC) Rose-Hill, Mauritius. She teaches Chemistry, since 2011, and Integrated Science at lower secondary level. Samantha has been an EFS mentor for SMC since 2011. She is very engaged in sustainable development projects and activities, which led to her promotion as Activity Clubs Coordinator. She implements the EFS principles by creating collaboration, exchange and synergies between the Club Activities.

Yasaar Jaumeer is an Educator at BPS Fatima in Goodlands, Mauritius, where he teaches Science since 2006. Yasaar has been an EFS mentor for BPS Fatima since 2011. Yasaar is responsible for the component on transport, resources and utilities. The data collected for this has been crucial for the calculation of the Ecological Footprint of BPS Fatima.

Katha is responsible for the component on waste; guiding the students how to collect and measure plastic and paper waste as part of the Ecological Footprint activities of BPS Fatima.
Jean Bernard Jacques

Jean Bernard Jacques is an English and Social Studies Educator at BPS Fatima in Goodlands, Mauritius, since 2004. Bernard has been an EFS mentor for BPS Fatima since 2011. He has played an active role in getting the students and teachers involved in the EFS programme and activities. Bernard implements EFS in his social syllabus in Form 1.
Dr Ad Smitsman worked as ecological psychologist studying child development at the University of Nijmegen (the Netherlands) for more than 35 years. He acts as resource person for the EFS Programme since 2011; teaching ‘Learning and Development’ for EFS based on Dynamical Systems Theory. His work has been published in several international journals, handbooks, and presented at international scientific fora around the world.

EARTHwise Centre has become the EfS programme manager since mid-2015.
The Bureau de l’Education Catholique (BEC) is the executive office of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Port-Louis for its education services. It is a main private partner of the Ministry of Education & Human Resources, catering for around 35,000 children and youth in the free education system. BEC coordinates the administration of the 46 primary RCA schools and the main policy directions of the 18 catholic secondary schools with the collaboration of the other congregations, see map included here.
BEC joined the EFS programme in 2011 and is leading the implementation of EFS in its educational system.
Bureau de l’Education Catholique (BEC)
Loreto College Curepipe (LCC) is a Loreto Catholic secondary school for girls in Mauritius. The school was founded in 1870 and caters for over 800 students. LCC joined the EFS Programme in 2011 and has been acting as pilot school for the programme since 2013, by embedding the EFS vision, mission, and principles into its school system and curriculum activities.
LCC has an active student-led Eco-Club who are playing a key role in driving the EFS programme within the school.
Loreto College Curepipe (Mauritius)
St Mary’s College Rose-Hill is a Catholic secondary school for boys in Mauritius and was founded in 1955. The school caters for over 1026 students. St Mary’s College joined the EFS Programme in 2011 and has been acting as pilot school for the programme since 2013, by embedding the EFS vision, mission, and principles into its school system and curriculum activities.
St Mary’s College has developed a unique rotational club activity model, where the EFS principles are applied to create synergy and collaboration between the activities.

BPS Fatima Goodlands is a Catholic secondary school for boys and girls in Mauritius and was founded in 2002. The school caters for about 460 students. BPS Fatima joined the EFS Programme in 2011 and has been acting as pilot school for the programme since 2013, by embedding the EFS vision, mission, and principles into its school system and curriculum activities.
The members of BPS Fatima are implementing the EFS programme through school projects and awareness campaigns.
